| Alternative Energy This one pretty much assists with my environmental concerns and makes us less dependent on foreign, carbon-based oil. Obama is a strong proponent of Alternative Energy options and is willing to invest in research and development. This issue goes hand-in-hand with global warming. This is a major problem that will take the entire human race to overcome. McCain doesn't even acknowledge the greenhouse effect. Speak to science and you speak to me, Mr. Obama!
Foreign Policy I know a lot of people are voting against Obama for this fact--but you are misinformed! British conservatives now endorse Obama for his foreign policy, along with many other leaders in the world. Bush has done a terrible job here, and if you think he hasn't--you're an asshat too. Big decisions (I.E. war) require input from foreign leaders. What's so bad about talking with people? It's not "Pal-ing around with terrorists", it's called compromise and realizing that just because we have more nukes than you does not mean we are correct. Peace!
Bush has left us with terrible, terrible environmental policies that will take years to undo. The USA has a declining image and no one seems to care about doing the right thing anymore. Before you vote today, ask yourself "What do I believe our government is for?". Are they there just to defend you so your daily life can continue uninterrupted? Or does it exist to preserve freedom while helping the citizens of our fine nation. Look--I'm okay paying a little extra taxes to help those in need. If my taxes are put to proper use, I might even be for a little tax increase--especially if it means that the pharmacutical industry no longer owns entire compounds, making healthcare completely and totally unaffordable for my fellow citizens. Look around you. You're not the only person on this planet.
VOTE TODAY! It's your right, and what separates us from other organisms. Stack the Congress so Obama can get his ideas in action! Vote for the other people that matter. Vote for the ammendments and propositions that matter. We can overcome ignorance with education. Vote.
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too! | | |

| There's a blog up on my Blogspot.
After meeting with my Adviser/Mentor/Professor/Research Head, I've realized that I only have 12 more classes (about 31 hours) until I graduate. He also offered me a job--Teaching a BYS 119 and/or 120 lab. I'll have to think about it. I hate biology majors. I really can't stand most of the people in my classes. I would hate to be one of those undergrad TA's that freaks out and fails everyone in the class for being retarded. I would have agreed on the spot had I not gotten this job with the greenhouse.
I'm going Trick-or-Treating with Derek and others during Halloween. Guess my costume... A Scientist! Bwhaha. So.. I'm thinking a Lab Coat, Gloves, Perhaps some goggles... and a vwr petri-dish bag for my candy receptacle. It'll cost me all of 0 dollars. I'll have some difficulty getting to character I bet.
I spent much of Saturday with Mary Beth. We went shopping at Wally World, where I got "glittered" upon. I hate glitter. And we purchased some stuff for the construction of her Halloween costume. We also ate at Cracker Barrel with Kylie, who I haven't seen in at least a year. All-in-All it was a fun time. I hadn't realized what her political opinions were. I'm glad she's not voting for McCain and that Alaskian know-nothing. In that regard, she's much better off than my mother (who voted for Huckabee in the AL primary). We also confirmed that we have feelings for each other, but are worlds apart. It's a funny scenario of Sexual Selection, but instead of a lek or dewlap, our niches are separated by miles and collegiate foci. Anywho.. there is nothing but time in this existence--perhaps our threads will cross in the future.
Tomorrow I have a Cell-Bio quiz, Psych exam, and a lab report due. I guess I'll be spending my afternoon at Angel's Island again. Besides,.. There's nothing else to do. At least studying makes me feel good about myself.
Cheers, Andrew

| People in my courses are oftentimes..well,..a little weird. It is a fact that the weirdest, most talkative individual in a class must sit right beside me. Look, I don't care that you hate adults. Look, I don't care that your job requires you to go into work at 4 A.M. to feed the dogs. I really don't care that you are buying a house. Who the hell are you for that matter? I don't want to know that you have recently developed allergies. No, I don't want to tell you where I got my term paper sources from. I don't want to speak to you when you can answer your own stupid question by reading the sheet of paper that's right in front of you. So.. Why are these creeps talking to me? I come to classes to chill out and learn something. My in-class time is the least stressful part of my day--I try and enjoy it. But I can't. Because some crazy person sitting beside me feels the need to engage me in some pathetic conversation about how boring their lives are. Where have all the interesting people gone? Aside from the individuals in my Cellular and Developmental Biology class, there's a complete lack of people I want to talk to. Conversation is now about Football or how boring your life is. What happened to the high-quality intellectual smalltalk? I know some people are capable of it--the people I enjoy talking to always can stir up something good to talk about. Now I wonder if anyone views me in the opposite way. "Man.. that guy is sooo boring, All he talks about is science"
Probably so....

| Last week, Dr. Davis approached me and told me that Dr. Leeland Cseke was looking for someone to help out with the greenhouse. Today I finally managed to track down Leeland (he's been in India for the last two weeks) and got a good chance to talk to him. He showed me our new state-of-the-art greenhouse and told me what was expected of me as a greenhouse tech. Anyhow.. I accepted the job and am now in charge of the well-being of the transgenic and teaching-aid plants on the fourth floor of the Shelby Center. I'm excited. The pay isin't what I was making at the Academic Resource Center--but at 10 bucks an hour, the ARC will be hard to beat for a part-time job. I start immediately. Hopefully I can manage to clean the place up a bit and repot some of the trees in the next week or so. I love this kind of stuff. Stallsmith also wants me to start working on a characterization of N. telescopus' lifestyle and growth rates. We'll start the collecting for this project in a couple of weeks. Our first N. telescopus paper was sent out last week; we should have it accepted and peer reviewed in less than four months. Alright! Our collecting trip last Saturday was perhaps the shortest and sweetest fish collecting trip I've been on yet. We were in and out of Estill Fork in under four hours. The water was down so much that It only took some dip-netting to yeild our target 20 young of the year shiners. These bad boys are tiny though--I'm glad I'm not having to remove their brains. I just got out of my Cell Bio exam. I feel good about it. I'm aiming for a high A in this class: and now I feel I'm on track to get it. An A on the next exam and it should be in the bag. I did realize rather late last night that I have a Psych quiz today too. I havn't studied at all for it.. so I'm about to get to that. Wish me luck! Cheers, Andrew
